Mie goreng

I cooked this mie goreng for my sister, Vicky's bday surprise. I learnt the recipe from Ci Lily years ago and I think this is one of the earliest recipes that I can cook well. Thanks Ci!

Living in the same house, it is very hard to surprise her especially when I need to cook for a lot of people because she will be wondering for whom I cook that much for. Plus after cooking, the smell of food, oil, etc etc is basically overwhelming the house. Luckily that day, she was so busy at work so Denny and I could find time to cook at noon and hide them inside the oven. (The oven is not on btw, it's just to hide the food from vicinity). According to many people, this noodle is very delicious and yummy. Hehehehe....

Recipe courtesy of ci lily:

Ingredients:
Dry noodle, 6
Baso, 1 pack, sliced thin
shrimp, 10-20
1 pack of bean sprout
chives
4 eggs
shallot
sweet soy sauce
oyster sauce
fish sauce
oil

Method:
Boil the noodle for few seconds until the dry noodle soften a little bit. Don't over boil the noodle because we don't want a soft noodle at this point.
Rinse the noodle with cold water, set aside
Add oil into wok
Stir fry the shallot until brownish
Add eggs
Add baso and shrimps
Put in sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce and fish sauce. Just estimate the sauce up to your taste.
Add in noodle
Put in the chives and bean sprouts. The noodle will now have a balance texture from the water from the veggies,
Mix together well. If the noodle is still hard, add more water.

Eat with chili. Enjoy!

How We Met

Probably, some of you will wonder how we met. So I thought, I'll write something more personal and close about us. This is my perspective of how we met as told by me :)

It wasn't love at first sight. We met the first time at church or during one of the church activities some time ago in 2006. At that time, we barely talked to each other and I just treated him as a friend. But, God is good. I must say that getting a job at SanDisk was a blessing in disguise. I had a prestigious job offer before getting an offer at SanDisk, but somehow, God detour-ed my plan of working with that company. I was frustrated at first when I knew that I could not work with that company, but, I always have faith that God has the best plan for my life, no matter what. Jeremiah 29:11 from the Bible has been such an encouragement to me.

And my faith did come true! Not only the work load at SanDisk was a lot lesser that I could find time to study for CPA exams, but I also met someone to spend the rest of my life with. To be honest, even when we worked at the same company, I did not have a spark on him at first. Through his endless efforts of having lunch with me and visiting my cube everyday, he finally won my heart. Richard is patient, caring, creative, gentleman, hardworking, smart and many more. What could I ask for more? I have found the other half of me and I am looking forward to build our new chapter of life together.

Below is our first picture taken in our company during Halloween party in 2007. This is probably the picture why I came to realize that he is chasing after me and he is not bad after all and worth to give it a try :P

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Es Teler

I bought half and half two weeks ago wanting to make es teler, and is about to expire. I never make any es teler before, but often eat that when there is a special occasion. So last 3 weeks, I think, the church celebrated Max's 1st bday and there was es teler. Actually, I did not go to that church on Sunday because I have class in another church. So the next day, we helped Petz to do her wedding stuffs and she brought es teler to my house. And since then, I am inspired to make one on my own.

Finally, after the half & half and all those canned fruits sitting on my fridge and drawer, I am able to make one. It does not turn out as green as expected, but the taste is so gooddd.... I immediately eat two bowls of this!! :P

Thank you to ci Kiki who shares this recipe on her blog.

Our In-Progress Website

I was chatting with a dear friend and somehow told her about my in-progress wedding website for her personal viewing. I only tell about this website to few people because it is still under construction. But somehow, I just told her today.

Minutes afer that, she called me. And she asked me if she can share my testimony related to 1 Cor 13 for her sermon on Sunday about Richard, when he was hospitalized just 3 months after we started dating. And then I thought to myself, did I write that thing on "our story" page. Because as far as I remember, on my story page, I wrote about how we met at work and Jeremiah 29:11.

I asked her what is her topic for the sermon. And it is taken from 1 Corinthians 13. With that, I suddenly realized that it is the verse on the homepage that she is referring to and she recalls how I, without fail, took care of Richard when he was at the hospital for 2 weeks. When I put that verse on the homepage, I never thought that it could be such a blessing to one person. And hopefully, through her sermon, people will be blessed by our testimony and this verse.

By the way, click here to listen to her sermon about love in practice.

This is the screen shot of the homepage

ALCF Marriage Fundamental class

Usually, I go to Indonesian Evangelical Church at San Jose every Sunday. But one day, I woke up a little bit late so I thought I'll go to my sister's church at ALCF. As I attended the sunday service, I read through its announcement that there would be a pre-marital class for engaged couples from August till November. So in my mind, I thought that this is a perfect class for us, plus, the timing is also right, just before we get married. Hehehe

We hope that we'll get as much advice and knowledge on how to become a couple that pleases our Lord and glorify His name.

Jakarta Bombings

What to say....?? 2 bombs exploded in 2 prestigious hotels, the Ritz Carlton hotel and JW Marriot on July 17.

It is saddening to see the people from my own nation did that to innocent people. Why? Are they stupid? Are they heartless? Please stop terrorism!! Stop killing and hurting innocent people!! What reward are you going to get, terrorists? You will end up in hell.
Let us make this world a better place to live in, respecting each other's race and faith without prejudice.

World Peace!!

iPhone

Just bought a new iPhone 3GS yesterday. It is my first PDA phone and the best phone so far. My previous cell phones were the old Nokia ones.. So I am very happy that I got my new toy. It is very convenient, mobile 24/7, many applications to be downloaded...

Very very satisfied. I think I'll be online all the time + play games if I am bored (^_____^)

Grace v. Mercy

Taken from today's sermon at ALCF:

Grace is something we get that we don't deserve.
Mercy is something we don't get that we deserve.

We are saved because of God's grace and mercy.

A day at Napa :)

Finally..the long awaited weekend is here. Richard and I decided to go to Napa Valley to see vineyards and wineries since I have never been there before. We went to Sterling Vineyards on Friday. It was pretty cool that we can view the beautiful wineries and scenery as we rode up using an aeral tram :) It was a self guided tour so we can walk at our own pace. In between, we were offered some wine tasting. Personally, I am not really fond of wine, so cannot really appreciate its smell and taste. It was a beautiful, sunny day. What a perfect day to date!! On the way back, we visited Vacaville Outlet and ended our day with a sushi buffet at Davis. hehehe
Can't wait for another long weekend..which will be on Labor day in September :P
