Questions and Questions and More

Richard and I have been discussing a lot about what we would and should do after we get married. Is it best if he goes full-time to Stanford? After we both graduate from Master's program, should we work in the US or should we go back to indo or sg? What should we do if we go back to indo? Do business? What kind of business? If we work with people in a company, surely we have a lot of paycheck cut. ^^ But listening from people, doing business in Indo has a better potential to succeed especially orang Jakarta berani keluar duit. Look at Sour Sally in jakarta, it is a success. They are willing to spend Rp. 40,000-60,000 for a cup of frozen yoghurt. I mean it's the same price as here in the US. I mean it's true if we work and live in the US, we'll get a stable income, but is this something that we want to do for the rest of our lives? For me, living in San Jose, it was good when I first came here, but, now.. it gets boring and I personally want to go back to Indo. Well, few things that I hate in Indo is the very slow internet connection, pollution, my allergy kicks in there, and the traffic! How about SG then? I am not sure. The living condition in sg is pricey too.
So yeah..we'll see. We know whatever that we plan, if God willing, He will provide. But I know God will always give the best for us.

Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Memorial Day weekend

Even though it was a public holiday, it is still the same for me because I do not go to school on Monday. But of course, Richard does have a holiday. His company shut down on friday, so it makes a long weekend holiday. But as always, he was busy with project and his project is due on saturday midnight. You know what that means.. :(
But at least afterwards, it is better that he has some free time before his final exam in 2 weeks. We went to IKEA on saturday afternoon, ate lunch there and went to Verde to grab some boba in mountain view. haha. Interestingly, after a long time I do not drink verde, after gobbling one, I want more. Then we went to Verde fremont at night. Haha... two verdes in one day. We planned to play arcades at Dave and Buster's. After entering the place, there was a charge to enter for friday and saturday. We did not know that! So being cheapo, haha... we left and spend the night assembling TV shelf we bought from IKEA.

After church on Sunday, to SF we go. We had Duck fried rice at Thai cafe for lunch, then we went to the Westfield mall to eat tuna sushi, then we went to Chinatown to buy egg tarts. The lines were long.... But it was sooo good. Then we proceeded to Genki crepes and final destination to Ocean Beach. I must say we eat a lot during the day. I think I gain some weight this weekend.

Stupid Vendor

Last week had been a crazy week for me. Mainly because:
1. I had a partnership exam which I dont really understand the concept, the HW. Basically I was clueless. But this nothing compares to what I will describe below.

2. I ordered graduation stoles for BAP for a banquet event on Friday. I basically had ordered this stuffs since April 23, the day that we closed the name list. Before that I have called the vendor if my event is on 5/13 (I put it 2 days earlier to allow some cushion, it's actually 5/15), when is the last day I should order and the type of shipment etc etc. So they said I should choose 2nd day air through UPS if I order on 4/23. So that's what I did. Anyway, this is what happened:
1. last Monday, I called the vendor making sure that they have already shipped the stuffs because I expect the stoles to arrive on Wednesday 5/13. But they said they are going to ship it that night.
2. on Tuesday, I called them again for tracking number since I assume they have shipped it last night. And yet, the answer I got was they are going to ship it on Tuesday night. Ok since, I thought that my event is still 3 days away, and I choose 2nd day air, at least it will arrive on Thursday. So I am kind of ignorant at that time.
3. on Wednesday, I called them again to ask the tracking number. And they said the shipping department forgot to ship yesterday and they are going to ship today with overnight shipment. I trusted them. So I let them go.
4. on Thursday, I expected the stuffs to arrive at my house. Eager to know, I called them again of when it will arrive. Again, I asked for the tracking number. It took hours for them to find the tracking number, bla bla bla. They gave stupid reasons that UPS did not scan the stuffs so maybe it get lost somewhere. I began to feel the stress. I told Richard about this. He was kind and helpful that he called the vendor and ask for the manager to resolve the issue. The event is tomorrow and we cannot afford to have it delayed again. We felt very skeptical about this. So richard was very angry and make sure that we'll get the stuffs tomorrow by 10am. To make the story short, at 3pm, they remade the stoles. And I received the invoice. Luckily, I noticed a mistake in some color for officers' stoles. It should be red and they put it as blue. So richard called them again. And they remade some of the stoles to the correct color. And they assured us that it will arrive Friday morning.

Anyway, I got the package in the morning as I drove to the UPS center. But u know what, one of the stole's right side is blank (missing BAP letters on it) so I called them again bla bla. They are going to ship it next week. Really, they have a bad operation, customer service (I think they lied). I would give them 0.5 star out of 5. 0.5 because of their effort in getting it done..well at least.. on time..after being bugged, scolded, called many many times.
Btw, I ordered the stoles in this website.

This is the picture of the stoles I ordered.

10/90 Principle

My dad sent me an interesting email about 10/90 principle a few days ago. The author, Stephen Covey, wrote a book Discover the 10/90 principle which I think is a really good one because this principle will change your life or at least, the way you react to a situation (although i've never read the book because i only saw the powerpoint slides. So what is this principle about?

10% of life is made up of what happens to you.
90% of life is decided by how you react.

What does this mean?

We really have NO control over 10% that happens to us,
BUT you can control the other 90% by your reaction.
You CAN control how you react.

And I find that this is really true.

Elected as National Secretary

I am quite active in school organization called Beta Alpha Psi or BAP. You can click on this website to find out more. Last semester Lily and Yeye were two of the six officers and I am inspired to become one of the officers in the future. However, I never thought that I would be running for National Secretary this semester because I thought that I would be busy in the Fall. But Derek kept persuading to become one team with him(because he wants to become President in Fall). After much thoughts, I agreed to run and Derek nominated me. I then prepared a speech and campaigned before the election.

There were 3 of us who run for the same position. At the end of the day, our votes were really close and so there was no decision made yet. It happened to the president too. After 2 weeks, an email was sent and the winner was announced. Derek and me won. yayyy... i really like the officer team for next semester. Hopefully we'll build a strong teamwork and make BAP a better club.
